Review of Nashville show

Here is a blogger's interesting review of ZZ Top's show in Nashville a week or so ago. He claims that they played Balinese, does anyone know if this is true? He also raved over some old Hendrix footage but didn't mention the Boyzz playing Foxy Lady...wonder if they did?

Review of Red Rocks ZZ Top concert.

With a nice photo.

Dusty again says recording of new ZZ Top album to start in the Fall.

It looks like the Duster is set on recording the new album this fall. Let's hope it happens!

BTW, the band apparently did a series of press interviews while bowling at the Lucky Strike here in Chicago which is only a few blocks from my freakin' house--does anyone know anything about this? I found one brief article referencing this but nothing more.

Reviews of Salt Lake City ZZ Top Concert

From the Salt Lake Tribune, Cold Leftovers (thanks David!), and the Deseret News.

Boy, Billy sure knows a lot about Salt Lake City!

Billy says new album recording to start in November

OK, this falls under the category of "We'll believe it when we see it," but Billy says in this interview that they might start working on the new ZZ Top album in November. That seems consistent with what Dusty has been saying, but we'll see.

Comment on review of Lubbock show

Our pal John Golby had a nice letter published in the Lubbock newspaper about their review of a recent show.

The Beauty of Blogs...

...is that you can find more than just a review by some third-rate hack who works for the local newspapaer. A good example of that is this review of a recent ZZ Top show. The pictures aren't perfect, they didn't get the whole setlist, but it's way more honest and satisfying that something written by a "professional" journalist. And some of the photos are pretty good.

Takin' Texas to the people, indeed!

David Coverdale's house invaded by bears!

OK, it's not exactly ZZ Top-related, but I just can't get the picture of David Coverdale chasing a bear through his living room out of my head!

Did you know that the first-ever ZZ Top Tribute band...

...included as one of its members Billy Bob Thornton?

And here is some interesting technical stuff about the current ZZ Top Hollywood Blues Tour.

Two new videos up on YouTube...

...that we think you'll really enjoy: Brown Sugar and X from Ruth Eckerd Hall in Clearwater Florida from the fall of 2005.

Lubbock Texas show reviews

Here is a nice article about ZZ Top fanzz in Lubbock.

Here is a killer review of the Lubbock show. It states that they played "My Head's in Mississippi"--can anyone confirm this? Anyone got the complete set list for this show?

Finally, here is a photo gallery -- no ZZ photos, but some nice shots of fans.

Review of Oklahoma City show

There is a short review of the OKC show here. Also be sure to check out our St. Paul review below, we have added video to our "photo review."

Roky Erickson playing club show in Chicago tonight

It's not exactly our cup of tea, but we know that Billy is a big fan of Roky Erickson, who is playing at the Abbey Pub tonight, apparently a last-minute show in connection with his Lollapalooza appearance?

More from the Duster!

He likes Rough Boy so much he had it played at his wedding, and he is still talking about a new album for 2008.

And this guy has the strange idea that someone from ZZ Top might be filming a video in his town. Doubtful, but hey, you never know.

Best MTV commercial ever!

We've been looking for a copy of this commercial for a long time--can't believe it was on YouTube all along!

If anyone has a tape of the show on the boat for the contest winners, you better tell us ASAP!
